Chase was tasked with trying to bring back the sound of the Caribbean for Pirates instead of perpetuating the Western and European sound of what Pirates have been in Hollywood, specifically the Disney film franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The strong thematic and historical association of where Pirates in the Caribbean originated has been lost until Chase took up the mantle to revive and incorporate the culture back into game music.

It’s been 10 years since UNDERTALE came out and changed my life. I wanted to put out this small EP to celebrate my love for this game, as well as circulate many of these pieces for download and streaming for the first time. This multi-genre EP includes re-releases of many of my UNDERTALE arrangements, some updated and re-recorded works, and maybe even some new surprises! (I say maybe because, at the time of this writing, I haven’t finished it yet LOL). Happy birthday UNDERTALE!

Mélodies de la vie is the MiDGaR Ensemble’s first album release! Featuring vocalist Madison Drace and guitarist/arranger Gregg Rossetti, this album includes eight covers of vgm songs, many of which were performed during VGMTogether in 2022. The album is also available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.

This is an arrangement of Dearly Beloved written for vibraphone and marimba. It takes on a rhapsodic style, taking inspiration from Kyle Landry’s many interpretations of the piece for solo piano. This piece is available to watch on YouTube, listen to on Bandcamp and streaming services, and has sheet music available for purchase. All of these can be found in the video description on YouTube.

As we had anticipated, this month was jam-packed with Megaten (or Megami Tensei) covers! But several artists and communities add some variety, with segments dedicated to music from Mega Man and Zelda. The cherry on top is the dark and gritty debut album by Slowly Crushed, who is quickly becoming a mainstay of the podcast.
