Funk-Fusion VGM Band
Professional Drummer, Composer/Arranger, Accompanist, Educator, and Twitch Streamer, has been thriving the musical journey for 18 years. After finishing a bachelor's degree of Jazz Performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, Dom has been fortunate to perform, educate, and explore a multitude of opportunities as a full-time musician.

Lacey Johnson: YouTuber, Producer, “Keytar Kween”. Lacey's style has best been described as “Nerdy with a twist of pop punk”, “Bursting with energy” and has been “spreading the gospel of VGM” wherever she goes. Lacey is a Southern-California based Video Game Musician currently creating bi-weekly covers on her YouTube channel in which she is the sole musician, producer, and arranger. Lacey also streams live video game music and gaming on her Twitch Channel.

Fareeha
Instrumental and Vocal VGM Covers

After leaving the rigid world of classical music behind, Fareeha found her way back into loving music again through VGM and other music in media used to enhance great stories! So much good has come within the world of video game music, meeting so many great people and learning lots as a musician. She plays piano, violin, sings, and makes covers and loops and mistakes! (It’s just extra jazzy zest)

Sab Irene
RnB/digital fusion VGM

Sab Irene is MA based video game composer who specializes in classical woodwinds paired with RnB and chiptune stylistic elements, but continues to experiment in all musical styles. For over 8 years, she arranged video game music covers on her YouTube channel, pulling inspiration primarily from jazz, lo-fi, RnB styles. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Boston University while studying saxophone with Dr. Jennifer Bill in 2020 and continues to pursue private online instruction to students of all ages.

What a better way to celebrate vgmtogether than to play music together? Julia and Lorenzo of Tutawan have re-worked their arrangements to compliment a live setting using keys, guitar, and their voices.

Julia and Lorenzo as Tutawan perform scaled-down versions of their arrangements that work with only keys, guitar, and two voices. Their favourite games to perform from include Chrono Trigger, Persona 5, Bastion, Transistor, and Hades. They are most influenced by jazz, funk, rock, fusion, and blues.

Tudd is a VGM composer and DJ from Linz Austria – he started making videogame music at an early age in online communities, but the fun soon turned into a passion and then into a full-time dream. His roots are in funk and jazz music, but he has expanded into high energy, high BPM electronic music. The rave scene powers his mixes as well as his recent composition. Let’s explore the digital realm.

Tovaun “Aeoxis” Anthony of Washington D.C. is a video game enthusiast, anime aficionado, and martial arts devotee who expresses his fandom and creativity by blending Metal, EDM, Jazz, and Hip Hop to take you on a journey through the world’s familiar and unfamiliar auditory spectrums!

Aeoxis weaponizes the musical and theatrical to take you on a sonic rollercoaster that will leave your spirit in a state of elation!

SD is originally from the States but find himself in Europe after a stint at Berklee College of Music. He’s been playing all around there for the last 10 years. Once the pandemic hit and high-speed internet infrastructure also arrived in his town, he seized the opportunity to go into streaming and never looked back. He also played the opening ceremony for TwitchCon 2022 in Amsterdam.

This panel will showcase how and why certain sounds and musical cues were used in order to recreate a bustling, evolving Tamil immigrant home in Canada through 3 decades. The goal was to reflect an immigrant family’s roots and the nostalgia that they hold so dear while they navigate the immigrant experience. The process of creating certain sound effects and the conceptual basis for Venba’s soundtrack will be explored in depth.

Creating a VGM arrangement can be a daunting task. What different roles do instruments fulfill in music? How do different instruments utilize melody, bass, chords, & rhythm to create a full arrangement? How does the absence of these elements affect the listener? Learn as Jer breaks these elements down to the basics so you can create your own arrangements!

Latin American VGM (and Why Chile Has Been Its Cradle)
Pokérus, Thennecan

Pokérus and Thennecan are an essential part of Latin VGM, with 15 years of career between them. they’ve been able to create a scene that delivers amazing VGM records and live shows like there aren’t elsewhere. What started as a small collective called “Pixel Quemado” is now a community of artists that produce albums, shows, festivals both in-person and online, and have become pioneers of the VGM scene around the world. They will be discussing why Chile has been an incredible place to kickstart the Latin VGM scene with “ÑoñoParty”, and how they’ve been able to keep consistent growth over the years.

How to Create a VGM Cover Album

“How to Create a VGM Cover Album” will teach listeners what it takes to successfully record, license, and distribute a video game music cover album. Panel host, Allen Brasch, has organized and released over 2 dozen VGM cover albums in the past 7 years. Joining him are Ro Panuganti, Lacey Johnson, TeraCMusic, Hashel (manager of Pixel Mixers), and Robby Duguay (arranger for The Game Brass). Each artist comes from a unique background, and together, they bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. The world of licensing video game music can be tricky, but it need not be intimidating. After this panel, you will have all you need to know so that you can release your very own VGM album too!
